An absolutely wonderful opportunity awaits our youth Saturday, April 27 from 11:00 to 3:00 PM at the Gem County Sports Island. This year we recognize 21 great years of notable respect to the youth of Gem County. Celebrating youth in our community is what Youth Appreciation Day is all about. We recognize and appreciate youth for who they are as students, as community members and as individuals growing up in our community. Honoring youth fosters inspiration and engagement in the many activities that are offered April 27th, 2024. We encourage youth and parents to come out and enjoy the entertainment, have fun and leave with a sense of self value and happiness of being number one for the entire day.
21 years ago, the coordination of YAD began with a few people around a kitchen table in a volunteer’s home. Organization and planning of the event begin in November. Volunteers from our community and the Rotary Club collaborate around a pizza table and launch into connecting with the many individuals and businesses that come to serve. The number of people that join forces to volunteer, donate materials and serve is approximately 150 individuals.
So much merry making for youth to experience. Opening ceremonies will begin with the Emmett High School band doing the National Anthem at 11:00 AM followed by a Pie Eating Contest, Cloggers and the Emmett Line Dancers at the Entertainment stage. Throughout the Island there will be Bounce houses, a 4-person Bungee, a Bike Rodeo, Face painting, an Obstacle Course, a Petting Zoo put on by our local 4-H clubs, the National Guard battle balls, a dog agility course, Clyde the Camel, the Pitching trailer, the STEM trailer, snow cones, cotton candy, the Gem County Fire and EMS and numerous other activities will be there. Join us for the wide variety of activities and entertainment on April 29th beginning at 11:00 a.m. and ending at 3:00 p.m. at the Gem County Sports Island. Hamburgers, hotdogs and drinks are made available at a reduced rate through the Rotary club.
A huge thank you goes out to all who come together to make this happen and to all youth who show up to be a part of developing a personal commitment to themselves of dedication, good citizenship and leadership for their community.
We encourage all young people, families and citizens of Emmett and Gem County to join us in celebrating Youth Appreciation Day April 27, 2024.
